Job Description

Come and join us at Aragen Life Sciences! There is an exciting opportunity awaiting for you to work with the best of innovator companies in the solid-state/material science space.

Aragen Life Sciences is seeking a solid-state science expert for the position of Research Associate and Senior Research Associate to work in design, and executing material science studies focused on the solid-state properties, polymorphism, and salt screening of new chemical entities (NCEs).

The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of the fundamentals of solid-state chemistry and materials science, combined with expertise in the characterization and selection of salts and polymorphs based on sound scientific and thermodynamic principles.

The key responsibilities would include:

Study Design & Execution: Lead the design, planning, and execution of material science studies focusing on solid-state properties, polymorph screening, and salt selection for new chemical entities (NCEs) using parallel crystallizers and miniatured crystallization set ups.

Data Interpretation & Reporting: Analyze experimental data scientifically and provide actionable insights into salt and polymorph selection based on thermodynamic understanding and crystallization behavior..

Characterization Techniques: Utilize advanced techniques, including but not limited to PXRD, modulated DSC, TGA, DVS, and high-level spectroscopy techniques (GC, NMR) to characterize solid-state properties and assess material behavior.

Crystallization Kinetics: Demonstrate knowledge in crystallization kinetics, including nucleation, crystal growth, and Process Analytical Technology (PAT), to understand crystallization process transfer to process R&D.

Innovation & Trends: Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in material science and solid-state chemistry, and integrate these insights into the pre-formulation process.

Educational Background
Master’s or Ph.D. in Material Science, Physical Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.

Experience
2-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical solid-state and material science, with a focus on polymorph and salt screening. Familiarity with CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) industry is preferred.
