Research associate /technician – Kodo LifeScience

Job Description

Kodo Lifescience R&D, Chennai, seeks an experienced research associate/technician to perform microbial fermentation, specifically E. coli fermentation, purification and filtration processes for producing plasmid DNA (pDNA) at the R&D level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

– Perform microbial fermentation, alkali lysis, chromatographic purification and filtration activities to support the production of plasmid DNA (pDNA) at a research scale.

– Follow procedural instructions outlined in standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), and development test methods.

– Ensure that all work adheres to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities related to pDNA production.

– Troubleshoot bioreactor, purification, and filtration equipment and assist in identifying and resolving any equipment-related issues.

– Support the investigation of development issues and non-conformities.

– Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality.

– Communicate effectively with managers and team members to report on production progress, issues, and proposed improvements.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a lab/office setting. The role requires walking, standing, stooping and kneeling. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 15 kg independently.

Qualifications:

• B. Tech, M.Tech or MSc in Biological Sciences, Bioprocess Engineering/Technology, Biotechnology or related disciplines with 1 to 2+ years of industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience in microbial fermentation, specifically E. coli fermentation, downstream processing unit operations (chromatography, tangential flow filtration, depth filtration technique).
• Ability to troubleshoot process failures related to equipment and identify the root cause.
• Creative thinker who can identify better and more efficient methods to address issues and gaps.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and an enthusiastic learner.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
