Research Associate, University of Pennsylvania

Job Description

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). This Research Associate position is for the study of genomics and epigenetics of mouse germ cells using computational approaches. The candidate is expected to participate in projects investigating the role of transcription factors, histone methyltransferases, etc. in germ cell development. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to perform independent research.

The applicant should have a PhD degree in life sciences and at least five years of postdoctoral research experience in the field of computational biology and a strong publication record. Computational languages in R and Linux Bash scripts are required. Expertise is required in the specific area of computational analyses of bulk RNA-seq, bulk ChIP-seq, bulk ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, scRNA-seq, and Hi-C data.
