Master’s degree in a related field and four (4) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade 7 (Salaried)

Position Description:

There is an immediate opening in the lab of Jason Hellmann, Ph.D. in the Center for Cardiometabolic Science/Envirome Institute. We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Research Scientist to join our basic science lab, which focuses on understanding fundamental mechanisms that regulate inflammatory responses and immune function. The role involves hands-on experimental work, data analysis, and close collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other team members. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and scientific curiosity, along with a readiness to contribute to ongoing and new projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead on planning and executing lab experiments related to our core research questions.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data; help troubleshoot and refine protocols.
  • Work closely with other lab members, including students and technicians, and help train new team members as needed.
  • Participate in writing manuscripts, figure preparation, and grant materials.
  • Help keep the lab organized and ensure protocols follow safety and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in a life-sciences field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, molecular biology).
  • Experience with in vivo models of acute and chronic inflammation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently on research projects.
  • A collaborative mindset and attention to detail.

Compensation Will Be Commensurate To Candidate Experience.
