Research Scientist, University of Pittsburgh

Job Description

Conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists.

UPCI Basic Research Administration

Doctorate in Molecular or cell biology or a related discipline, at least 5 years of experience in conducting research in the field of cancer biology, including mammalian cell culture, generation of stable cell lines, cell cycle analysis, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, western blot, flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy, molecular cloning, qPCR. The candidate has to demonstrate a strong publication record, and ability to lead independent research projects. Preferred candidate would have great oral and written communications skills, ability to work in a team, ability to analyze scientific literature and experience in training students and junior researchers.

Essential Functions

Plan and perform experiments, analyze data, prepare scientific publications, keep up with scientific literature.

Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary but required to move around the building and sometimes to different buildings to access the facilities. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
